Vibrations during acceleration are a clear sign of a problem in the vehicle's driveline. When the shaking appears when you apply the throttle and lessens when coasting, the cause is usually in the components that transmit torque from the engine to the wheels.

What are the main sources of vibrations?
Under acceleration the transmission is under load and any play or imbalance is felt more strongly.
The most common causes are:
- imbalance or wear of the driveshaft;
- damaged center support bearing;
- worn inner CV joints;
- damaged differential or reduction gear;
- worn engine and gearbox mounts.
When the vibration appears in the 60–90 km/h range and intensifies under load, it is often a problem in the driveshaft assembly.
Problems with a manual gearbox
In cars with manual transmissions, vibrations are often related to the clutch. A worn clutch disc can slip during acceleration, leading to pulsating power delivery. A damaged dual-mass flywheel also creates characteristic vibration and metallic noise.
The engine and gearbox mounts are another key factor. If they have softened or torn, the powertrain shifts under load and changes the angle of the half-shafts, which causes vibrations.
Problems with an automatic gearbox
In automatic transmissions, vibrations are often accompanied by jerking or „kicks“.
The main causes include:
- worn or defective torque converter;
- problems with solenoids;
- contaminated or old transmission fluid;
- incorrect hydraulic pressure.
Irregular fluid changes in the automatic gearbox accelerate wear of internal components and lead to unstable shifting.
How to identify the source?
Observe exactly when the vibration appears. If it disappears when you release the throttle, the problem is likely in the transmission rather than the tires. If the shaking is felt even at low speed, there may be damage to an inner CV joint or a bearing.
A visual check for transmission leaks and the condition of the boots is also important. A torn boot leads to grease loss and rapid wear of the CV joint.
